Tap dance has evolved from many different roots from Clog dance, to Irish Dance, African rhythmic soft shoe movements and Scottish step dancing. The style in itself came about when jazz musicians in America used to hammer metal bottle tops into the soles of their shoes to use as a type of drum that would keep the musicians in time. This is where the name, ‘Timesteps’ come from.

The style became more popular during the Minstrel shows in America and then made more famous by various film stars like Shirley Temple, Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly.

Tap dance is fantastic way to keep fit and be creative at the same time for both children and adults. It’s just like talking with your feet!!
